Not much has been revealed of this Nicaraguan puro’s blend. However, it offers a wonderfully expressive bouquet of coffee, anise, charred bay leaf, and yeasty notes. The Alma del Campo’s appearance is quite deceiving, though. While it appears to be quite a mild to medium-bodied cigar, it’s actually quite full!
If you’re somebody who enjoys cigars with personality, it’s an excellent choice. Similarly, its rich composition of tasting notes means that it won’t easily get drowned out by other smells outdoors.

Although it war marketing as Montecristo’s strongest cigar yet, its body is more in the medium range. As a result, it’s also a good choice for fishing while the sun goes down.
What Cigars Should You Smoke While Fishing?
Although fishing is limited to certain seasons in some countries, it’s an activity that can take place throughout the year elsewhere. For instance, you can go fishing pretty much any time of the year in the USA. Nevertheless, it may be limited to certain species of types of fishing depending on your state.
At Bespoke Unit, we believe that the best cigar for a particular moment depends on variables like the season and the time of the day. After all, your local environment plays an important role on your sense.
For instance, a mild and creamy Connecticut cigar tends to fare better in the morning or in hot weather whereas a full-bodied maduro would be overpowering.
Meanwhile, that same Connecticut cigar may feel underwhelming in the late evening as your aroma receptors will have been exposed to stronger stimuli throughout the day.
While professional fishermen work throughout the year, recreational fishing tends to take place during good weather on warmer days. Similarly, it’s often undertaken during the daylight hours, starting early in the morning until the sun goes down.
Therefore, we’ve opted for a mix of mild and creamy cigars for warm mornings as well as medium-bodied blends for colder weather. Indeed, there are always diehard recreational fishermen who go out come rain, wind or shine, and we’ve catered to them with a few suggestions above.
Storing Your Cigars While Fishing
As much as cigars require controlled amounts of humidity to stay fresh, one thing that they hate is water. And when fishing, there’s a lot of it around! Indeed, it’s vitally important that you look after the cigars that you take with you when fishing.
At the very least, we recommend using an airtight travel humidor like those made by Cigar Caddy and Xikar. Meanwhile, Boveda’s humidor bags are also very good and quite affordable. These will be able to protect the cigars from any splashes of water.
Meanwhile, we also suggest that you use a Boveda pack to control the humidity level inside the humidor. Since Boveda packs offer two-way humidification, just one will be able to absorb any excess amounts caused by your surroundings.

How Did We Rank These Cigars?
We have at least formally tasted or fully-reviewed every cigar that has been featured in this guide. Indeed, we haven’t included anything that hasn’t at least been sampled in a professional setting.
Similarly, each cigar was sampled using the Bespoke Unit Cigar Formula, a quantifiable review matrix that we developed in order to standardise our reviews.
This formula has been live since our Avo Nicaragua review in August 2019. However, it has been frequently revised in order to improve its accuracy. Therefore, you can be confident that the cigars listed here were thoughtfully curated rather than assembled by random.
