When our editor Rafael asked if I’d be interested in reviewing these chic, minimalist slippers, I couldn’t help but think, “Wow! They look a bit like empanadas, ” especially the Spanish vachetta veg-tanned leather pair.
As a longtime leather enthusiast and someone who recently moved into a house with hardwood floors throughout, I couldn’t have been more eager to test them out.
This review covers not only the natural leather pair but also a bold orange-dyed version and one of CP Slippers’ classic felt models. I even volunteered to test their kids’ version, but my cat Kaiju would need two pairs, and his paws are far too small.

Unboxing & First Impressions
Each pair of CP Slippers arrives in a minimalist recycled cardboard sleeve subtly embossed with the brand’s logo. The presentation is clean and understated, perfectly fitting the product’s aesthetic.
Style & Appearance
We’ll start with the classic model—CP Slippers’ flagship design—crafted from a thick layer of Spanish felt and finished with linen contrast stitching.
These are tailor-made for colder seasons. Think of them as a refined alternative to wool socks. I chose this pair with travel in mind.
As a commercial pilot, I spend about ten nights a month in hotel rooms and always travel light, usually with just my BLKBRD uniform chukka boots. These slippers are compact, stylish enough for quick trips to the lobby or room service pickups, and resilient enough to handle tight packing without creasing.
Next up is the minimalist model. This version trades felt for high-quality leather and foregoes padding altogether, resulting in an experience akin to slipping into an unlined leather loafer.
While browsing the CP website with me, my wife immediately gravitated toward the orange-dyed pair. In person, they’re an unapologetically bold shade—think nacho cheese Dorito.
These dyed models still use Spanish leather, though it’s not confirmed if they’re also vachetta. In truth, I’d prefer they weren’t; vachetta leather is labor-intensive and best appreciated in its natural, undyed form.
I opted for the natural veg-tanned version. The quality of the leather is immediately evident: no blemishes, inside or out. The foot rests against the smooth grain side, while the roughout side touches the floor, setting the stage for one of my favorite phenomena: patina.
Fit & Comfort
After just a month of regular wear, the leather has begun shaping to my feet beautifully. The heel and ball are already leaving impressions, and the outer surface is developing a subtle nap that’s almost like suede, but much more robust.
I’ve worn these around the house, into the backyard while grilling, and even while watering plants. Despite soaking the soles once by accident, they dried out overnight with no harm done. This is the beauty of high-quality leather: it asks little and gives a lot.
The biggest difference between the Classic and Minimalist models is, naturally, the padding.
I assumed I’d prefer the Classic’s cushioned feel, but the minimalist design grew on me quickly. They’re essentially leather socks—insulated enough for cooler floors, but still breathable. In colder months, you might want to add socks.
CP also offers a “Luxe” model with a cork and natural rubber sole, which might be better suited for winter wear, but for my lifestyle, the minimalist design fits the bill.
Final Thoughts
Despite owning more than a few pairs of handmade shoes, my go-to house slippers have long been a pair of plush Pompompurin-themed slides—comfy but synthetic and unlikely to last more than a year.
These CP Slippers, on the other hand, are stylish, hardwearing, and aging beautifully. They’ve officially replaced the pudding dogs.
At their price point, they’re an exceptional value—and an easy gift pick for anyone with a soft spot for quality craftsmanship. Christmas, after all, is only six months away.
"CP Slippers strike the perfect balance between craftsmanship and comfort—refined, functional, and built to age beautifully."
