Knowing how to wear suspenders with style is important, but before doing so you’ll need to know how to properly put them on!
While this task becomes second nature to the seasoned suspenders wearer, it can be difficult to get the hang of it for those just starting out.

Step-By-Step Directions For Putting On Suspenders
Once you’ve learned how, putting on suspenders is quite an easy task. However, it can be confusing if it’s your first time. Therefore, feel free to leave us a comment below if you need a hand!
Otherwise, the process for getting braces on is as follows:
Step 1. Lay Trousers Out Flat
The process begins before you put your trousers on. Lay them out flat with the waistband visible.
To be clear, you’re going to want to have your shirt and socks on, as later in this process you’ll be putting your trousers on and being shirtless at that point won’t be exactly helpful.
Step 2. Attach The Back Ends Of The Braces To The Two Center Back Buttons In Your Trousers
Find the back section of your braces and attach them so that the outside of the button holder is facing the outside of the trousers. The idea here is to attach the braces as if they were going to be worn.
We know it seems rudimentary, but it never hurts to repeat!
Step 3. Fasten Braces To Buttons On Left Side
After attaching the back buttons, follow the brace’s left side and attach those buttons, again with the outside of the braces facing the outside of the trousers.
Again, the idea is to attach them as if the trousers with suspenders were going to be worn.
Step 4. Fasten Braces To Buttons On Right Side
Repeat step three, but on the other side.
Step 5. Put Trousers On
You’ve done this before, you can do it again. Go ahead and put your pants on like a big boy.
Full disclosure: you will want to zip all zippers and button all buttons when you put your trousers on before doing anything further with the braces themselves. Doing so will ensure the most accurate fit after all is said and done.
Step 6. Adjust Length As Needed
The metal buckles should hit approximately mid-torso, and the trousers should sit at the natural waist while not giving you a wedgie.
