How To Buy Loafers On Zappos
As mentioned in the introduction of this guide, Zappos retails a myriad of shoes. At the time of writing this article, it features nearly 10,000 men’s shoes alone. If you’re specifically looking for loafers, we recommend that you navigate via the top menu, click on “men” and choose “loafers.”
This option will filter out all the other styles and leave you with 1,524 pairs. You can also use this direct link to save time and go straight there. Since nearly 2,000 loafers are still quite a lot, we suggest using the filters to narrow it down some more.
The best place to start is with the size where you can choose a range, which takes into account any models that run slightly too large or too small. Doing so will also prevent any frustration of finding a pair that you like only to discover that it’s not available in your size!
We also like to use the “sort by” function and opt for “best sellers” or “customer rating”. These tools help show you some pretty good models based on other people’s experiences.
The only quirk is that “customer rating” will first show 5-star shoes from only one review while 4.5-star shoes rated by dozens or hundreds of users will appear later. Meanwhile, a best seller doesn’t automatically mean that the shoe is good so it’s worth reading the reviews afterwards.
The sidebar on the left will also present you with lots of other filters like brands, prices, colors, and materials. You can easily use these during your search but also deselect them using the “your selections” feature at the top.
Finally, you can also use Zappos’ search bar at the top. However, we’ve noticed that typing out the shoes doesn’t always provide you with the best results compared to using the site’s in-built filtering tools.
Our Favorite Loafers
If going through all those steps still seems daunting, or if you’re short on time, we present our favorite loafer models below.
- Style: Tassel Loafer
- Formality: Business Casual
- Pricing: $135 [Buy Now On Zappos]
- Currently on sale for $99
Available either with or without a tassel, the Hayes is a versatile and affordable loafer by Johnston & Murphy. While usually retailed for $135, Zappos will periodically put it on sale for less than $100 if you’re in luck.
Thanks to its Blake stitch construction, despite its low price, you’ll also benefit from long-term use, as it can be resoled. The leather has an attractive, slightly patented finish, too, which renders the shoes slightly dressier for their style.
- Style: Penny Loafer
- Formality: Business Casual
- Pricing: $395 [Buy On Zappos]
- Currently on sale for $242.25
Bruno Magli specializes in stylish Blake-stitched shoes crafted in Italy. The brand has a wide selection of loafers, and it was hard to pick a favorite. However, the Arezzo will probably be the easiest to wear.
It’s a penny loafer with two-tone details over the vamp and on the heel. The tonal contrast is subtle, while the hand-painted burnished finish offers mesmerising visual detail. Although somewhat pricier than most of the options on this list, it’s not the most expensive Italian-made shoe.
- Style: Bit Loafer
- Formality: Business Casual
- Pricing: $164.95 [Buy Now On Zappos]
- Currently on sale for $75.88
Another affordable Bake-stitched shoe, Anthony Veer’s Filmore, is a great alternative to the Johnston & Murphy option if you prefer a bit of ornament rather than tassels. It features a stunning wooden stacked heel that provides subtle color contrast as well as an attractive moc-toe finish.
Furthermore, it’s available in three different colorways: black, tan (walnut), and oxblood. For a dressier look, opt for the black loafers. However, we find the oxblood to be the most versatile.
- Style: Tassel Loafer
- Formality: Business Casual
- Pricing: $100 [Buy Now On Zappos]
- On sale for $69.95
While quite casual, the Nunn Bush Strafford loafer retains a distinctive element of elegance. As a tassel loafer, it features an overall rustic aesthetic thanks to the hand-stitched finish and the addition of a woven leather vamp.
Furthermore, the inner features both memory and open-cell foam, which affords the wearer extra comfort. Additionally, it can be picked up for less than its retail of $100 right now, which is a steal given the quality.
- Style: Penny Loafer
- Formality: Business Professional
- Pricing: $374.95 [Buy Now On Zappos]
While Mephisto is well-known for both its quality and use of comfort technology, its shoes tend not to be particularly attractive. However, the Cap Vert is an exception to the rule! A classic penny loafer with design elements that are reminiscent of boat shoes, it’s quite stylish and easy to wear.
The padding tongue reduces pressure points. Meanwhile, an extra soft leather lining is designed with a special Air-Relax cushioned insole for additional breathability. Therefore, they’re an excellent option in any season.
