Overview
The only desktop humidor featured on this list, we were quite fond of the affordable Landmark. It’s able to store up to 300 cigars, which is plentiful for a regular cigar enthusiast with a slightly larger than average collection.
However, given the price, we weren’t particularly enthused by the analogue hygrometer and floral foam humidifiers. We ditched all of this in favour of two mounted 320g Boveda packs and a calibrated digital hygrometer.
Finally, it’s worth noting that although it’s both sold by Amazon and Mike’s Cigars, these appear to be slightly different models. While the Amazon version is cheaper, it appears that the one distributed by Mike’s Cigars is a superior version from Ravello.

Overview
We were pleasantly surprised by this footlocker humidor upon which we stumbled by chance. Although designed somewhat like a desktop humidor, we found that this was better placed on the floor at the foot of a desk or sofa.
The ornate handles are quite convenient and help to shift it about if needed. Another thing that we liked was the two shelves for easy access to your favourite cigars. Beneath those is the the rest of the chest with some very deep storage.

If you’re looking for a high-tech wooden cabinet, the Remington may be your best option. Designed with in-built electronic humidity and temperature control, it offers a complete experience with the storage space for an impressive 2,000 cigars.
As large collections can be quite hard to manage, this is probably one of the easiest and convenient options provided that you have the real estate in your home!

Overview
We’re fond of using coolidors for bulk storage. Although they’re not very presentable, coolidors are affordable and spacious when managing large collections. They can store thousands of cigars or even hundreds in their original boxes.
We’re particularly fond of the Iris USA Remington as it’s equipped with a foam gasket for a truly weathertight seal and a strong locking mechanism. This prevents moisture exchange and retains the humidity inside.

Overview
While perhaps not the best use of space, we do have a soft spot for this elegant cabinet. Unlike most of its ilk, it is designed to age each cigar separately. As such, it’s composed of partitioned drawers in which you can place a cigar of up to 8×55. As mass storage can get quite chaotic, this provides an organised solution.
The bottom section is dedicated to mass storage where you can place boxes and pile up your stogies. There’s also an interior A/C outlet for equipping it with the necessary devices.

Benefits Of Large Humidors
If you’re a serious collector with a growing stock of cigars, there may come a time when you’re running out of space. As such, you’re more-or-less obliged to invest in a large storage solution.
While coolidors are a very cheap storage option, they’re not very presentable. Consequently, they usually end up living in the basement like a troubled high school dropout.
If you’re looking for mass storage that’s still reasonably attractive, then a large humidor is probably the answer. Of course, large humidors come in all shapes and sizes. While we already covered cigar cabinets, this overlooked large humidors in general.
Another advantage of a large humidor over a coolidor is that you’ll benefit from the wooden construction with a Spanish cedar lining. Many coolidor users often lament that they lose out on this and often use Spanish cedar veneer or shelving to provide the effects.
However, this never provides enough while a large humidor will provide the natural membrane provided by Spanish cedar. This helps buffer against changes in humidity. When it releases moisture, it also imparts the pleasant cedar scent on your cigars and some argue that it improves the flavour.
Furthermore, Spanish cedar is also a natural insect repellent. If you’ve had issues with beetles in the past, then you’d understand how this is something of a bonus!
Large Humidor Drawbacks
First and foremost, a large wooden humidor is a devil to season and even more challenging to keep consistently humid. While the same logic of seasoning a normal wooden humidor applies here, it’s on a much larger scale.
You can probably follow our guide for seasoning a wooden humidor with the majority listed above. However, some will require a lot more patience and elbow grease.
When it comes to maintaining the humidity, many of these will require heavy-duty devices. Some will be electronic and need to be frequently recharged with fluids, which is another running cost.
Meanwhile, you will probably be able to use Boveda 320g humidity packs in most cases. For humidors with a capacity under 1,000 cigars, this would actually be our first choice. Yet, since these will provide moisture for up to a cubic foot of storage space, you may need several to achieve the necessary levels.
Finally, large humidors such as chests, footlockers and even coolidors are quite hard to organise and manage. They essentially become bottomless pits and quite chaotic so it can be difficult to keep track of your collection.
Similarly, a lot of care will need to be taken in making sure that the cigars at the bottom are well-protected and won’t get crushed under the weight! Eventually, you may be best keeping the cigars in their boxes, which takes up extra space.
Finally, don’t forget to season your humidor if it’s either made from wood or has wooden parts.
